The Good News – The Testing of Yahushua by the Adversary

And immediately Yahushua, being filled with the Set-apart Spirit, returned from the Yarden and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tried for forty days by the devil.
And in those days He did not eat at all, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of Elohim, command this stone to become bread.”
But Yahushua answered him, saying, “It has been written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of Elohim.’ “
“And He humbled you, and let you suffer hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, to make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but by every Word that comes from the mouth of Yahweh.  (Devarim (Deuteronomy) 8:3)
And he brought Him to Yerushalayim, set Him on the edge of the Set-apart Place, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of Elohim, throw Yourself down from here, for it has been written, ‘He shall command His messengers concerning You, to guard over You,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear You up, lest You dash Your foot against a stone.’ “
For He commands His messengers concerning you, To guard you in all your ways. They bear you up in their hands, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. (Tehellim (Psalms) 91:11-12 HaSatan leaves out a key part and that is “To guard you in all your ways.”)
And Yahushua answering, said to him, “It has been said, “Do not try Yahweh your Elohim as you tried Him in Massah. (Devarim (Deuteronomy) 6:16)
And the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the reigns of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I shall give You, and their esteem, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. If, then, You worship before me, all shall be Yours.”
And Yahushua answering him, said, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it has been written, “Fear Yahweh your Elohim and serve Him, and swear by His Name. (Devarim (Deuteronomy) 6:13)
Then the devil left Him, and see, messengers came and attended Him. And when the devil had ended every trial, he went away from Him until a convenient time.

The Adversary, HaSatan, the devil, bad guy, etc. has been working to destroy the creation of Elohim since Beresheit (the beginning). (Yochanan (John) 8:44) In this particular instance (found in Mattityahu (Matthew) 4:1-11 & Luços (Luke) 4:2-13), the Adversary attempts his greatest con since the trying of Iyob (Job) – testing the “Living Word” with His own words.  If you examined the referenced verse of Yochanan 8:44, you’ll already recognize the Devil as “the master of lies” and it is on full display. What you’ll also notice, if you go back and read the Tanakh references, is that much like the deception of today, the deletions and subtractions from the word are quite subtle – possibly one word difference or inversion of the phrase.
There is to be gleaned a moment of warning to all that are untrained in the Word and weak in faith – the subtlety can dissuade even the most learned biblical scholar and destroy the faith of the weakest amongst us if you don’t be a “good Berean” (Ma’asei (Acts) 7:11) and verify the words with the scriptures from which they are taken!
Build up your faith and love of Yahweh, walk in His ways, and you will be delivered from the deception of the wicked one in the Name of Yahushua the Messiah!
