“For each tree is known by its own fruit. For they do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree rotten and its fruit rotten, for a tree is known by its fruit.”
“Brood of adders! How are you able to speak what is good – being wicked? For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart. “The good man brings forth what is good from the good treasures of his heart, and the wicked man brings forth what is wicked from the wicked treasure. And I say to you that for every idle word men speak, they shall give an account of it in the day of judgment. “For by your words you shall be declared righteous, and by your words you shall be declared unrighteous.”
“And no one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a hidden place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in shall see the light. The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, all your body also is enlightened. But when your eye is evil, your body also is darkened. See to it therefore that the light which is in you is not darkness. If then all your body is enlightened, having no part dark, all shall be enlightened, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.”
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from You.
And while the crowds were thronging, He began to say, “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Yonah.
“For as Yonah was three days and three nights in the stomach of the great fish, so shall the Son of Adam be three days and three nights in the heart of the land. Men of Nineweh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Yonah, and look, a greater than Yonah is here.”
“The sovereigness of the South shall rise up in the judgment with this generation and shall condemn it, for she came from the ends of the land to hear the wisdom of Shelomoh, and look, a greater than Shelomoh is here.”
“Now when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. “Then it says, ‘I shall return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds it empty, swept, and decorated. “Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they enter and dwell there. And the last of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”
And it came to be, as He was saying this, a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which You sucked!”
But He said, “Blessed rather are those hearing the Word of Elohim and watching over it!”
And while He was still talking to the crowds, see, His mother and brothers stood outside, desiring to speak with Him. And one said to Him,
“See, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, desiring to speak with You.”
But He answering, said to the one who spoke to Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?”
And having stretched out His hand toward His taught ones, He said, “See My mother and My brothers!”
“For whoever does the desire of My Father who is in the shamayim is My brother and sister and mother.”
“My mother and My brothers are those who are hearing the Word of Elohim and doing it.”
This portion of the Chronological Order of the Good News is found in Mattityahu (Matthew) 12:33-50 & Marços (Mark) 3:31-35. We pick up where we ended the previous portion, further driving home the understanding of the inner being of man and the destruction of division against oneself. The words of the mouth reflect the thoughts and emotions of the innermost being – Good coming from good, wicked from wicked! Messiah Yahushua is preaching against hypocrites, and speaking across time and space to us this very moment with a very ominous warning to walk in righteousness. As far as the points of the sign and the question of family, see the following studies: Kepha (Peter) – Another from Yapho & Family – Who is my Mother and my Brother? Shalom Aleichem!
